Ottawa Hills Elementary School won first place in the K-3 Championship section at the 2017 Ohio Elementary Chess Championship last Saturday held near Akron, OH. Over 170 players from 70 schools competed in this event.
The Green Bear team of Rohan Padhye, Finn Genzman, and Jeremiah Leeds combined to score 9.5 points, winning the state title by the largest margin of the event. Rohan Padhye went undefeated going 5-0 to win first among individuals, while Finn Genzman and Jeremiah Leeds combined for 4.5 points.
In the K-6 Championship section, Saumya Talla and Ketan Tamirisa combined to score 3.0 points.
