Three Ottawa Hills Teams Compete at the National Academic Quiz Tournament

4 students sitting at a table ready to square off at National Quiz BowlFor the seventh year in a row, the Ottawa Hills High School competed in the National Academic Quiz Tournament's Small School National Championships held in Chicago.  For the first time in the school’s history, the A, B, and C teams qualified for nationals.

The Ottawa Hills Academic Quiz Bowl A Team of Steven Randall, Will Koury, Randall Johnson, and Daniel Liu capped an incredible season by finishing 8th overall (4th in the Very Small School Division) in the 2017 NAQT Tournament. They went 9-5, slugging it out with some of the best teams in the nation.
 
Students sitting patiently waiting to use their brain powers to wreak havoc at National Quiz BowlThe Ottawa Hills Academic Quiz Bowl B Team of Nathan Card, Adit Mukherjee, Spencer Colton, Elaina Dunbar, Kiera Wolkins, and Mady McCabe capped an incredible season by finishing 12th overall (6th in the Very Small School Division) in the 2017 NAQT Tournament. They went 9-6, including a stunning comeback upset win over Ottawa Hills A Team.
 
The Ottawa Hills Academic Quiz Bowl C Team of Mazin Omer, Urvish Patel, Santi Garcia-Mata, Sam Assi, Hank Griffin, and Rohit Mukherjee capped an incredible season by finishing 29th overall (tied for 11th in the Very Small School Division) in the 2017 NAQT Tournament. They went 6-5, stunning everyone in the tournament by going 6-3 on the first day and making the playoffs with their wild cardentry to the tournament.
