The Ottawa Hills Dance Team continues to impress audiences with their jazz, pom, and hip-hop routines. Most recently, the girls performed their pom routine at the Snowball assembly and their jazz routine at Friday’s basketball game. The team is coached by Taylor Bush and has seven members: Amelia Frueh (11), Sophia Stone (10), Brynn Hesse (11), Danielle Keil (11), Sarah Keil (9), Paxon Koury (9), and Sophia Heidenreich (9).
They compete Sunday (February 10) in the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators Regional Cheer and Dance Competitions at Sylvania Southview High School. To compete at the state championships, cheer and dance teams must first qualify at a regional qualifier event.
“This year’s team has fallen nothing short of putting forth the hard work and dedication to see success in our dancing,” said Amelia. “I am so immensely proud of how the season has been progressing so far, and I cannot wait to see what is in store for us in upcoming competitions!”
Sophia shared similar sentiments: “The team this year has demonstrated resilience, hard work, and passion not only for dance, but for their team. I am thrilled with what this year has revealed so far, and am excited to see how our journey towards success unfolds. Our coach, Taylor Bush, has cultivated a positive environment for all of us to hold a growth mindset, and has taught us the importance of a team. I am incredibly honored to be part of this team that consists of inspiring young women who radiate joy.”
The team is looking forward to its competition season and would love to see some Green Bear pride supporting them at regionals.
“The team has grown so much over these past few months,” said Coach Bush. “We all put in our best effort at practice, and do everything we can to improve as dancers as well as young women.”
