After nearly 17 years as the Elementary School secretary, Shelley Mattocks is saying goodbye. She is taking a new position as the district's payroll administrator, which technically still makes the building her work-day home. The last day in her current role is this Friday (Dec. 18).
“I still can’t believe this is my 17th year,” said Mrs. Mattocks, who goes by Ms. Shelley to students and families. “The time has flown by and I’ve loved every minute of it. Oftentimes in my life, people would ask me if I had any children and my answer was always that I was never blessed with children of my own, but I have 525 (our enrollment) Monday-Friday from 8:00-3:00. I will miss my babies.”
She started working in the elementary office at the start of the 2004-2005 school year. During that time, she has worked as the administrative assistant for two principals: Kori Kawczynski and Kevin Herman.
“Our office will not be the same without Shelley,” said Ms. Kawczynski. “In addition to her official duties, she has been a special friend to so many struggling students, a sounding board for me and many teachers and staff, and a trusted friend and colleague to all.”
The district will post the position internally first, and then externally if necessary.
Mrs. Mattocks’ move is related to two other human resources’ changes within the district. She is replacing Teresa Leinweber in the treasurer’s office, who is moving up from her current role to replace Eric Miklovich as assistant to the treasurer. Mr. Miklovich has accepted a position as assistant treasurer with the Educational Service Center of Lake Erie West.
All the personnel moves were officially approved Tuesday (Dec. 15) by the Board of Education.
