Posted On: Thursday, April 29, 2021

All OH parents and guardians are invited to a special event Tuesday (May 4) titled “Technology Information Night:  What Parents Must Know.”

The event is hosted by parent-support group OH21 and the district’s Department of Technology. The one-hour event begins at 7 p.m. and takes places in the auditorium at the Junior/Senior High School. Masks are required and social distancing will be practiced.

The event’s central question to be explored: How much you should know about your child’s online presence and use? Among the topics are:

  • Why should you monitor your child's phone and computer presence?
  • Why are Vault apps dangerous and what you should know about Instagram, Snapchat, and other social media platforms?
  • How can you monitor your child’s phone and home computer (discussion of the Bark app)?
  • How often should you be monitoring your child’s phone and does the frequency change with their age?
  • How do I set up parental controls on an iPhone and android phone?
  • How do I set up parental controls on a home computer and check browser history?
  • Life 360: What is it and how do you use it?
  • What do I need to know about cell phone contracts for my child?
  • Should I know my child’s passwords and why?
