What would a football or baseball game be without a juicy hot dog or the enticing aroma of popcorn in the air? Concessions are a time-honored tradition at Ottawa Hills. In addition to feeding hungry spectators, the concessions program represents an incredible fundraising opportunity for the OH Boosters organization.
Last year alone, the Boosters donated more than $67,000 to our junior and senior high athletic programs – with $15,000 of that coming directly from concession revenues. This money paid for updating district track equipment, new uniforms for varsity football and volleyball, stadium repairs, the athletic trainer’s salary, bus rides for athletes, and much more.
Concessions at our sporting events could not happen without our amazing parent liaisons. These are the dedicated representatives from each sport responsible for recruiting, scheduling, training, and supervising the volunteers who pop the corn, squirt the cheese, and salt the pretzels. It’s a big job and they are an amazing team!
So the next time you get an email from a parent liaison asking you to volunteer for concessions, please consider donating your time. It’s a great way to connect with other parents and support a wonderful cause – our OH athletes!
