Congratulations to the girls’ varsity soccer team, which swept its conference opponents this year en route to winning its third consecutive Toledo Area Athletic Conference (TAAC) title.
The girls officially earned the title Monday (Sept. 30) with an 8-2 victory against Cardinal Stritch. The team went 6-0 in TAAC play; its overall record is 8-3-2.
“Obviously, we are excited about the third consecutive TAAC Championship but this team has bigger goals,” said Coach Jessica Kozy. “The girls are aiming to make it to districts, which would be farther than any Ottawa Hills girls soccer team in the past.”
Other TAAC schools competing in varsity girls’ soccer are Toledo Christian, Northwood, and Cardinal Stritch. Selections to All-TAAC teams will be announced Oct. 13.
The girls find out Sunday who and where they play in sectionals, with first games being played either Oct. 15 or Oct. 17.
“Our senior captains have really been our most consistent and reliable players this season,” said Coach Kozy. “Catherine Byrne and Rhi DeMilt on defense and Autumn Richard and Erin Kadrovach on offense. Catherine, Rhi, and Autumn are the first four-year letter winners in the history of the program.”
Sophomore Meredith Greeley leads the Green Bears with 21 goals; junior Mallory Carter leads in assists with 24.
