In the interest of educating the community about the education of limited English-speaking children, This is OH is hosting a speaker at its monthly meeting Monday, Feb. 3.
The speaker is Reem Subei, a Perrysburg resident and staff attorney with Advocates for Basic Legal Equality in Toledo. She will talk about educational rights and best practices for those families. The meeting is from 6-7:30 p.m. in the library at the Junior/Senior High School.
The discussion comes as Ottawa Hills is increasingly home to children and families who are learning English as a second language and are “limited English proficient.” The talk will examine such questions as what are the legal guidelines and educational best practices in serving English Learners in school.
This is OH is a local organization working to bring awareness and constructive action to efforts that support diversity and inclusion in the Village and district.
